Burned Batik…..

Aug. 24, 2010 1 Comment Posted under: Cards, Techniques

Something a bit different for you today it’s a technique called burned batik and makes the most beautiful backgrounds.

First onto a piece of Whisper White card I have stamped the circles in Versamark and clear embossed them.  Normally when you are embossing you stop when the image is glossy and raised, with this technique you continue to heat the embossing powder until it flattens out again.Don’t hold the heat gun too close or you will end up with burnt patches on your card.  You will know when it is heated enough because you will be able to see the images on the reverse of the card.

Then spritz the card with water it needs to form in puddles, use a sponge dauber and a variety of ink pads I have used Chocolate Chip, Rose Red and Taken with Teal.  Dab the sponge daubers over the wet card and the colour will bleed through, once you have an effect you are happy with leave to dry.

I’m back from my holiday in Malta now having had an amazing time, it will take me a day or 2 to catch up with my emails, thank you for being patient!

Dashing Dasher

Aug. 22, 2010 1 Comment Posted under: Cards

I love, love, love Dasher, he is such a lovely stamp and so versatile!

This very simple card uses the bride paper, which comes in 2 designs, the scrolls that you can see and stripes too.  This paper is really great because you can colour tint it to match your projects.  It is our Whisper White card stock with some foiling over the top. I have sponged over the Bride paper with Night of Navy ink, polished off the foiling with a piece of kitchen role and all done!

Almond Biscuits….all gone!

Aug. 20, 2010 No Comments Posted under: 3D Items

My customer friends have a wealth of talents and with this gift the lovely Pauline has excelled herself!

She is a very talented baker and has made me the most scrummy soft almond biscuits.  Now they hit the spot in all sorts of ways, I adore coffee and my latte always has Almond syrup in it…….If that wasn’t enough she has packaged them so beautifully and used the swirl from Baroque motifs to decorate the box.

I’d love to share them with you……..but I’ve eaten them all!

Pink Poppy

Aug. 18, 2010 No Comments Posted under: Cards

I was in need of a pink fix when I made this card, do you find you have times when you just need to use a certain colour?

I know Poppies aren’t traditionally pink, but I think this one works!

Do you like the little bit of paper piercing at the bottom, it’s using a great tool called a mat pack, which has a grid in it for prefect positioned holes everytime!

Christmas is a coming……

Aug. 16, 2010 1 Comment Posted under: Cards

The geese are getting fat…….At least I think that’s the rhyme………

Not very much meat on a Goose, since we usually have 10+ staying with us a Christmas, we have Turkey and then a goose occasionally at new year when it’s just the 4 of us!

I know it’s still warm but if you get your cards sorted now think how great you will feel in the run up to Christmas!  I love this combination of Orchid Opulence and Chocolate Chip with Vanilla, not a usual combination but you can be sure your cards will stand out from the rest!

If you put the ribbon flat and don’t use dimensionals on the greeting you can be sure it will go through the post at standard rather than large letter rate.
