Titchfield Card Making Class

I hope your start to the new year has been good.  Mine has been busy, so no change there, but mainly with preparation and designing, less so with events.  However last week I held my monthly Titchfield card making class.  I hold 2 classes each month they take place on the first Thursday evening and the following morning, Friday of every month.

So what do we do at Titchfield Card making class?  We make 6 adorable cards, suitable for a variety of occasions each month. It is a chance for you to stamp, relax, unwind, enjoy chatting with other Stampers, drink tea and eat biscuits. All materials except glue are provided. I have to say that there is lots of chatter and laughter that takes place, it’s a great social event and an opportunity for crafters to get together and use new products, techniques, stamps, punches, the Big shot and all sorts of embellishments.

So would you like to see some of the cards we made this month?

First up is a card using the set Charming, now this set is design to co-ordinate with the Simply Adorned Jewellery line, but it is also perfect for making cards too.  I love the text stamp, that is going to see a lot of ink!

Now I think I went a little punch crazy in this months class!  The card below uses 6 punches! but it takes seconds to make.

The card has 2 new products on it the amazing Red Glimmer Paper, soooooooo sparkly! and the wonderful Postage  Stamp punch.  The stamps on the right would all be suitable greetings for this card and they are all from the same set Teeny Tiny Wishes and as you can see they fit perfectly with another punch, the Word Window.

In fact it’s 32 pages and contains the BIG SHOT ! along with some amazing Stampin’ Up! exclusive dies, embossing folders and too many goodies to list here!

So why exactly am I so excited?…………Drum roll please……….the Big Shot is a die cutting system that will revolutionise your crafting. It can cut over 50 types of materials, cut at least 4 sheets of card at once and gives such wonderful professional results.  I cut almost 200 flowers from our designer series paper yesterday in less than 5 minutes!  Not only is this going to be fabulous for paper crafting you can use the Big Shot with fabric and felt so all of my lovely customers who sew too, you really need this machine!

The Top Note Die is an exclusive die to us in Stampin’ Up! and it has been hugely popular in the USA I’m sure you are going to love it too.  This is a wallet we made at our most recent Stampin’ Up! training.

I hope you can see the foam of the die, this is the part that both cuts and embosses the dotted line around the outside edge.

This is the inside of the wallet, space for money or itunes vouchers……and the back of the die, all the exclusive Stampin’ Up! dies are grey and they have the Stampin’ Up! logo on them too, cool !

So what else is in the mini catalogue?

Stamps for the boys, big buttons, teeny tiny clear shaped buttons, punches oh yes….. the owl punch is in there, Builder wheels, lots of scrummy papers, Glass Glitter and THE BIG SHOT !!!!!

There are so many things to show you, I will have some new projects every day but we are going to start with a cause very dear to my heart.

On page 31 is a stamp set that I believe you all need, not only is is a beautiful stamp set Stampin’ Up! is donating £1 from each purchase to the Breast Cancer Research foundation.

Wow, here we are again, the start of a brand new year.  So many of us use this time of year to reflect on the past year and plan for the next, I am so excited about the coming year, it is going to be the best yet!

I don’t make resolutions as they are too set in stone, I like a bit of wriggle room with my plans and ideas…….!

I have learnt from last year that I need to spend more time with friends and family as well as working hard, so I think for me 2011 will be more about balance.  I’m also going to add a few things to my world, a daily walk and moisturiser…….I think the laughter lines really need some help……….

So today’s cards are a little bit of sunshine, I love the combination of Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight, the sky is very grey here at the moment.

Both cards use the Brights Designer series paper stack and the Punch Bunch stamps.  These are perfect for batch making cards and the pearls and ribbon add a little elegance too!  The Daffodil Delight mat layer has been punched using the Scallop Trim Corner punch.

Well I’m back up to speed, I’ve almost caught up with the 150 + emails……and wading through my post!  Of course getting a little distracted by my new book!

Meanwhile here we are decorating the children’s rooms, I have now learnt how to wallpaper, lots of black and silver……..teenagers!

I have stayed still long enough to make a card for my Uncle Keith who is 70 in a week or so.

And a new start!

Today is a very exciting one for me tinged with some sadness.  The cards below are for my wonderful year 10 class, they have been absolute stars this year, producing some of the most amazing food I have ever seen from students!  They are also possibly the most entertaining class I have taught, I look forward to seeing them every week! I have already said goodbye to my year 11′s who finished their exams a month ago, they were also an amazing, very talented class.

I finish at school today, not just for the summer, I’m not going back in September.  That is the sad part, I will miss the students and and my colleagues very much.

However, the exciting part is the realisation of a plan I’ve had for almost 2 years, that I have worked so hard to achieve, my family have put up with me working day and night during the week and most weekends, building my Stampin’ Up! business, building my independent work for stores across the UK, my magazine work and gaining all sorts of other contracts.  But I have achieved my goal.

I am now fully self employed as a crafter………..How cool is that ? ! ! ! ! !

I have so many projects to tell you about I am busting, but several are still a secret……..but not for too long now………I will share as soon as I can.

Here is my card for the latest challenge set by Vannessa and her wonderful design team of Amy, Elaine and Hayley.

I have taken my inspiration from the quilt, since stamping is still a little tricky for me I used lots of Rose Red and Bashful Blue designer series paper (punched out by my Mum!)  I have paper pierced each square and used the Old Olive marker to make the stitching lines.  To give dimension I have folded up each square around the stitching lines and then stuck them down.  The stamped square  is using the Greeting Eight stamp set from the mini catalogue in Old Olive and the card is finished with an Old Olive bow.

This is one of the cards we made on Saturday at our stamping, but not on card class.  

The card is made from a 12″ x 6″ piece of acetate and stamped all over using White Stazon ink using the small flower from a Rose is a Rose.  In order to stop the glue showing through each side of the card has some card or paper stuck to it to hide the glue.  On the front is the rose stamped in Pixie Pink and Chocolate Chip and layered with a dimensional onto a piece of Whisper White with the leaf stamped in Green Galore and Glorious Green.  On the reverse of that is a piece of Chocolate Chip Designer Series paper.

Here inside the card is a piece of Whisper White stamped with the flower in Pixie Pink so you can write your greeting.

and on the back a Made with Love stamp punched using the Scallop square.

Did you notice the blue background…………Well in my lovely light box I have 3 different colours of background I can use, so I’ve been playing with them over the weekend.  The light box does work best outside ( when you can fold it up………see previous posts on how difficult that is!) but it’s not great when it’s breezy!

This is a little 4″ card for any occasion, I love the way Stampin’ Up! co-ordinate stamps and paper it makes things so easy!  This is using the Tart and Tangy stamp set, which I’ve borrowed from Michele, Thanks, it’s great having downline close by x

The card is Real Red and I’ve scalloped the edge and used a piece of bashful Blue card to peep through from the inside of the card. A piece of Old Olive scalloped on one edge and paper pierced with a mat of Summer Picnic Designer paper is the next layer.  The cherries have been coloured using Real Red and Old Olive markers, stamped onto Whisper white and punched out with the square scallop punch.  The matted onto Old Olive card.  I’ve finished off with a little bit of Real Red gingham ribbon.

A card using the lovely Botanical Blooms stamp set one of the free sets you can earn during the  Sale-A-Bration 2009 (SAB09) promotion.

It is Old Olive card stock and ink as the base card.  The flowers and leaves are stamped in Lavender Lace and Old Olive onto Whisper White card and then punched out using the Scallop Square punch and matted onto a strip of Lavender Lace card.  The sentiment was stamped onto some Lavender Lace card and them popped behind a frame from the Hodgepodge Hardware and mounted onto the front of the card.
