It’s the first Wednesday of the month so it’s time for a Stamping Techniques to Try Blog Hop, this month we are focussing on Brusho! Brusho is a highly pigmented water colour ink crystal. They are a really fine powder that, when mixed with water gives some amazing backgrounds and effects! I am using them today as a water colour wash, the pigment is so vibrant and you only need a tiny amount!
Here is my card using the fabulous Petal Palette stamp set. I made these cards for my December customer thank yous and birthday cards, I made lots as you will be able to see later, each one is unique, I love that!
So to start off you need somewhere to contain your Brusho, I’m using an acrylic block so it’s easier to see on the pictures, but a plate would work too. Can you see the little wooden peg at the top? You use a push pin to make 1-3 holes in the top and you shake out the Brusho like a salt shaker. DON’T take the tab off and try and pour out the Brusho, it’s way too concentrated!
Add a few drops of water to the powder, look how vibrant the colour is.
When I was making the cards I used 2 separate Aqua-Painters it was much easier than cleaning the brush each time as I was making 60 cards! I stamped the images in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and left them to dry for an hour or so to make sure the ink wouldn’t budge and I used Shimmery White card to stamp and water colour onto, it’s my favourite water-colouring card.
I used a technique called wet on wet, its exactly what it says on the tin, you add the 2nd colour when the 1st colour is still wet. That was how I was able to get clear yellow, clear blue and some lovely shades of green too. On each card I started with the yellow and then added the blue.
