A fun Craft and Chat this week, all about envelopes. Whilst I appreciate its not the most exciting of topics, I promise when you’ve watched this video you will love them! 3 quick and simple ways to help you make ANY size of envelope you need, You will need a ruler and to do a little bit of Maths, but it is only a little bit!

Apologies if you work in cm, this information is currently only available in inches. That is the way my brain works. But I promise I will get a cm version sorted out as well.

3 Ways to make any size of Envelope

1. Use an existing envelope to make a template, quick and easy, but something we don’t always remember to do.

2. Square Envelope – Mark the diagonals and measure from the centre to the outside corner add that measurement to the size of the square to get the size of paper you need.

e.g. Square is 6″ measurement from centre to edge is 4″ paper needed to make envelope is 10″ square

3. Take your card measurement Length and add 1 1/2″ and the Width and add 1/2″, then double that measurement and add 2″. This gives your paper measurement for the envelope. You then score at 1/2″ along the sides of the length and at 2″ and the the width measurement (plus the 1/2″).

e.g 8 1/2″ (L) x 4 1/4″ (W) card, 8 1/2″ + 1 1/2″ = 10″
4 1/4″ + 1/2″ = 4 3/4″ double this 9 1/2″ + 2″ = 11 1/2″

(L) score at 1/2″ and 9 1/2″

(W) score at 2″ and 4 3/4″
