What you need for the mirror image technique

To create a mirrored image, there are two essentials you will need. The first is the Stampin’ Positioner, which allows you to place your image accurately and repeat the stamping as needed. The second is a silicone mat, which is what makes the mirrored image possible.

I’m discovering lots each time I use the Stampin’ Positioner

  • Its really important to keep the magnets as close to the stamped image as possible, that way the card is less likely to lift.
  • The thin plate from the Stampin’ Positioner has small bouncy rubber feet on all four corners, which means it can be used as a freestanding stamping block. This makes it really handy for positioning sentiments exactly where you want them, without having to lock it into the platform. I have already put in a request to Stampin’ Up! for more small plates and different sized plates as well.

Colouring with Blends

I use Memento ink for stamping so I can colour with Stampin’ Blends. I start by laying down a light base coat on each dinosaur before adding any shading. This makes blending much easier later on. For the dinosaurs, I use Granny Apple Green and Lemon Lime Twist, adding darker shades around the edges and blending back with the lighter colours.

When shading, I always work from dark to light and use gentle flicking motions with the bullet tip. Scrubbing back and forth just moves the ink back and forth so it doesn’t actually blend, you need to work in one direction.

Here are all the Stampin’ Up! items I used in the video. Click on the pictures to go shopping in my online store.

I have so many more techniques to share with this awesome addition to my craft room. So I’ll be back very soon with some more videos.

I’m also behind on blogging my LIVE Craft and Chat Videos, so if you’ve missed them you can always find them on my Youtube channel, click the LIVE tab, but I promise to get caught up early next week.

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you are doing, the beach is calling my name, that is if it stops raining. But to be fair, I’ll go with my wellies and rain coat on anyway!!!! Ice cream tastes good whatever the weather!

I’ll be back soon with some more creative inspiration.
