NEW Stampin' Positioner - Splat Technique Video Tutorial

Another fun technique with a Video Tutorial. it is one of my favourite Stampin’ Positioner techniques, the splat technique. It’s a fun, slightly messy way to create beautiful handmade cards using sponge daubers, water spritzing, and the Stampin’ Positioner.

This technique is perfect if you enjoy soft, water-coloured effects and cards that are similar but never identical. By applying ink with sponge daubers and adding plenty of water, you’ll create splatted, puddled images that come to life once they are over-stamped. I’ll walk you through the supplies you need, how to position your stamp for perfect alignment, and how to control the amount of water to get different effects. I also show you a few easy ways to add extra splatter and sparkle using a paintbrush and Wink of Stella.

This technique is also ideal for batch making. Reapply ink, spritz with water, and repeat. You’ll notice that each image looks slightly different depending on how much water you’ve used, from lightly splattered to a full watercolour-style wash.

Before over-stamping, allow the images to dry fully. This usually takes around an hour, depending on the temperature of your craft room.

While the cards are drying, you can add extra splatter if you wish. Using a paintbrush, water, and ink on a block, gently tap the brush to create random ink splats across the cardstock. For finer splatter, flick ink using the inside of a sponge dauber. You can also add sparkly splats by tapping Wink of Stella in the same way, which gives a subtle shimmer once dry.

The finished cards all coordinate, but each one is unique. Some have soft, minimal splats, while others look almost like a painted wash. That’s part of the magic of this Stampin’ Positioner technique. This is such a fun way to experiment with ink and water, and it’s just one of many techniques you can create using a Stampin’ Positioner. I’ll be sharing more ideas like this over the coming weeks.
