I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you and your families a happy and healthy 2013.

I have had a memorable Christmas ! This year my parents and brother, sister-in-law and 2 nephews ( Alex aged 5 & Josh aged 9) were coming to stay for Christmas arriving on the 23rd. So it was going to be a busy fabulous time with lots of fun to be had.  You may remember that we were having the floor laid in the extension, which is our new lounge on the 20th and we had to clean and polish the floor before we could move all the furniture in and put the tree up.  Well we managed all the polishing on the 22nd, so the 23rd was the day we planned to decorate the tree and put the furniture back in.

At 3am on the 23rd Kimberley woke me up with a pain in her tummy, by 5am she was being sick and at 9am she wasn’t even keeping water down, so I took her to the emergency doctor (against everyones advice who thought it was the winter sickness bug…….) Needless to say 5 minutes in the doctors surgery, a surgical consultation and Kimberley was admitted to hospital with suspected appendicitis. She had keyhole surgery on Christmas Eve to remove her appendix which went really well and she was discharged in time for us to make it home before Santa put in an appearance !  She is recovering well, but needs lots of rest, not great when you have GCSE’s in 2 weeks…….!

Not my most favourite 48 hours, but I am so grateful to all the NHS staff who looked after us and made a very stressful time bearable! and I am so very thankful that Kimberley is fit and well.  I am also extremely thankful to my darling hubby who held my hand in the hospital, my son who entertained cousins and grandparents and my fabulous Brother, sister-in-law and parents who managed to muddle through and make sense of my notes, fed and entertained everyone.
