I’m not one for making new year resolutions, I make goals all year round but there is something about a New Year that makes me want to challenge myself. As I looked back on last year one thing stood out, my blog is always the first thing that gets neglected when I am busy, and that makes me sad for you my dear reader. If you are kind enough to come and visit my blog, the least I can do is have something new for you to see, right?
I got to thinking about this and the frustrating thing is I make hundreds if not 1,000’s of crafty projects every year for my parties, classes, clubs, events and team training they just don’t make it on here………I knew I had to do something but I really wasn’t sure what to do! Fast forward a few days and I got caught up with some movies I had taped over Christmas, and the answer was right there…….. Julie and Julia, you can read all about the movie here.
Basically the movie is a true story and entwines 2 lives, Julia Childs and Julie Powell. Julie Powell started a blog that charted her efforts of cooking every dish in Julia Childs recipe book called Mastering the Art of French cooking. She called in a crazy assignment 365 days and 524 recipes ! It’s a real feel good movie and it inspired me to set myself a challenge, however, I am not going to try and recreate that challenge, for a start most of the projects I share will be stamping and paper crafting, there will be some cooking and even other crafts too……..and I need it to be challenging but not unrealistic……..
So I am going to share 365 crafty projects with you over the next year. Starting today Wednesday 9th January 2013. That’s 1 crafty project a day, but since my plan is to post 3-4 times a week, there will be multiple projects in some posts. Sounds exciting right……….okay I’m a little bit scared now, but that’s a good thing?!
So I better get on with it huh! Oh, but before I do I just want to say I’ll only count my projects towards the total, so when I share some of the amazing cards I received over Christmas they won’t count towards my total! I’m such a rules girl……..things have to be clear.
So here we go my first 2 projects!
I love this Clockworks stamp set, it’s got grungy elements and of course lots of bits of clocks, but it makes such a lovely card.
I have used Cajun Craze as my base and added Early Expresso, More Mustard and Crumb Cake. The Fob watch has been stamped twice and punched out to give a 3D element and the “uncle” from the For my Family stamp set was cut out using the Bitty Banners Framelits.
This second card is using one of my favourite sets, Serene Silhouettes, the bird in branch image was punched out with our largest scallop punch the 2 3/8″ and then the Pretty in Pink layer is the new 2 1/2″ circle punch, the sentiment is like the last card from the For my family stamp set. Some designer series paper and flowers with pearls using the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack finishes the card.
So I hope you like the first 2 entries for my 365 Crafty Projects Challenge. Each time I post I will update my little Dragonfly ticker below, we are going to count up to 365, and now and then I’ll do a comparision of how many days there are left compared to the projects I have shared.
So of course I need your help……. please comment on my posts, I would love to know who is out there reading my blog! It would also be wonderful if you could tell me what type of things you would like to see me post. Thank you so much for reading, and sharing this journey with me.
Woohoo great news… Look forward to it! X
You don’t do things by halves, do you?!
Really looking forward to seeing the projects…so far, they’re fab!! xx
What a great idea! I look forward to seeing all your creations. X
Good luck with your challenge. I certainly enjoy looking at your blog for inspiration and like both of these projects! Male cards are always such a challenge and the clockworks stamp set seems to fit the bill. I like the boldness and simplicity of the second one. XX
