Wednesday was Kimberley’s 17th birthday and as seems to be usual in our house the celebrations seem to last for a few days!
Wednesday started early as she needed to be on a train by 7.15am to get to college, so the presents had to wait. I was grateful for the time though because I had a cake to bake, well actually 2 cakes……..the first one was a disaster ! Kimberley loves Cream Cheese Frosting so we decided to go for a Red Velvet cake, I got the recipe from a well loved recipe book but it was awful, flat as a pancake and not cooked properly in the middle………and it tasted horrid!
So cake No2 recipe via Great British Bake off and Red Nose day was a success, you can see the recipe here. It did mean another trip to the supermarket and many more hours slaving in the kitchen, but she’s worth it! Cake was yummy too !
I did a bit of card making too, I used the wonderful Best of Butterflies set and Papillion Pot Pourri, 17 butterflies, 17 sparkles too!
And of course no birthday is complete without a banner!
