I love making decorations and these Finnish stars look great and are quick to make. I first saw them 15+ years ago, bizarrely in Finland………I was attending a youth work conference and one of the delegates had tiny stars to give as gifts, that original star has long since gone but I’ve always been able to make them and I thought it was only fair to share that with you.
So I have made a video, I reference in the video the different sizes, so below you will be able to see the variety of stars you can make. You can make really tiny ones……..but I would start with the bigger ones first.
In case you can’t read my writing
- Top left is 1/2″ x 12″ strips makes a 10″ star
- Top right 1″ x 12 strips also makes a 10″ star
- Bottom left 1″ x 8″ strips makes a 7″ star
- bottom right 1/2″ x 6″ strips makes a 5 1/2″ star
Here is the video, please do leave me comments, subscribe to my Youtube Channel, or you could send me your pictures I love to see what you have made.

Hi Amanda,
Was curious about the top left star…on you paper next to it you put 1/2″x12″ but the typed says 1″X12″ same as the one next to it on the right.
