I am giddy with excitement showing you this card. It has been a labour of love, I needed Brian’s help to sort out the mechanics of it. I can say it’s probably the hardest card I’ve ever designed. That said, it’s really straightforward to make, because I’ve done all the figuring out for you. I’m calling it the Exploding Box Card. You are going to love it! This is how it starts out.
This is how it looks in the end……….
The magic, and the explosion is in the middle, here is the video.

You are going to be so happy when you have made some of these. The are great for all kinds of occasions. As I said in the video I made this for Connor’s 25th birthday and it worked really well. If you are not from the UK and don’t know what size a £10 note is, the inside of the box measures 3″ x 5 1/2″. I’m sure I’ll get questions about the numbers on the card, I’m afraid they are a retired Stampin’ Up! set of dies, currently not available.
Measurements
Box Lid/Wrap 9 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ score at 3 1/8″, 4 3/8″, 7 1/2″ and 8 3/4″
Box insert 5 1/2″ x 8″ score at 1 1/4″ on all 4 sides
Spring Box you need 2 pieces for every box.

I am reliably informed it’s Friday today, so that means its the weekend tomorrow. The weather is good so that’s weeding on the list, and checking the Rhubarb again, I’m sure there will be enough for crumble. I really need to get on with some crochet too, I haven’t had much time this week so I’m a bit behind. Take care of yourself, stay home, and do some crafting!

Love this! I can’t wait to make one for my son. You’re video was so fun and cute. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Stacey!
Amanda, I LOVE this card! Thank you for all of your work designing it and sharing it with us.
I do have a question about the rubber bands you used. Could you tell me approximately how big they are?
Thanks so much!
Hi Kathy the elastic bands I used are about 1 1/2-2″ wide but it depends how stretchy they are. Hope that helps x
Thank you, Amanda!
I can’t wait to make this project for my grandson’s birthday…
I think he’ll love it!
Kathy
I hope he does, do send me a picture Kathy!
I am a new demonstrator and I just love watching your videos. You have the cutest grin with the most pleasant and fun way about you! You always give such clear, concise directions that are easy to follow. I just made my first demo box to see if I could do it and, Voilà! It came out and works! Now I am going to make the entire project for a fun gift surprise and am really excited. Thank you for this wonderful idea and all the others you put out there
Thank you so much Penne!I’m so pleased you are enjoying my tutorials!
Making ten boxes with 40 pictures on them for my son’s 40th. Working on the box and the sleeve. I’m not sure if the one you did will fit all of them. If you could give any suggestions that would be great. Love how they turned out I also cut out a bunch of 4 and 0 so they can pop out along with 40 dollars. It would be much appreciated
Hi Darleen If the box doesn’t fit them all in, just take the side measurements and add the extra to it. You will need to add it to all 4 sides. The best way once you’ve done that to make the sleeve is to try wrapping a piece of scrap or copier paper around it and fold it on the corners and take the measurements off that way. Hope that helps!
