I have a Craft and Chat video replay for you today focussing on the On the Horizon stamp set with the amazing New Horizons patterned paper. The paper is stunning, I have talked about it before, I would stock up, because one pack wont be enough! It just makes making cards so easy. Just a little bit of stamping and you are done.

In the video we discussed ink pads and re-inkers.
The first thing to say is I don’t ‘know ‘ that there will be a colour refresh this year, but the last one was 2018 and since they are every 3-5 years it could be this year or next year.
My recommendation is to ALWAYS buy a matching re-inker when you buy an ink pad. That way you are covered!
If you do need lots of re-inkers, they do come in a discounted colour family bundle, see page 126 of the annual catalogue. You can also buy whole colour families of ink pads as well, and they are discounted too!
A colour re-fresh is basically a swap around of colours that aren’t very popular, potentially bringing back of loved previous in colours and moving around the colour families. We know when this happens the outgoing colours sell really quickly, which is why I’m mentioning it now. Just in case.
Of course remember that the 2020-2022 in colours will also be going, yes I will be losing Misty Moonlight…… I’m very sad! But again make sure you get your re-inkers etc sooner rather than later, they will leave the catalogue at the end of April.
I also recommended that you do a ‘spring clean’ of your ink pads, open them up, check they are okay, re-ink them if necessary. Of course check that you have the matching re-inker…… as above!
Now there was a question about re-inkers and old / new ink pads.
I know many of you have old ink pads either Felt ones (pre 2012) or Firm Foam ink pads (2012-2018). The current ink pad style was introduced in 2018. So if you have only purchased ink pads since 2018, please ignore the next little bit as it won’t affect you.
When the current ink pads where introduced in 2018 the labelling changed on the re-inkers to the style below, Stampin’ Ink is inside a white box. So you will be able to tell if the re-inker you have is pre-2018 or not. This is important because an anti-foaming agent was introduced into the ink in 2018. The anti-foaming agent was designed to go with the new style of ink pad.
You can use the ‘new’ style of re-inker on all the old pads.
However its not advised to use the old style re-inker on the current (2018 onwards) pads because they don’t have the anti-foaming agent.
There is one exception which is Basic Grey, pre 2018 it was an archival ink, in 2018 it changed to a water based ink. So you cannot use the new re-inker on the old ink pad or the old re-inker on the new pad, it will say “Archival’ on the ink pad and the re-inker so it will be clear, just make sure they match.
